For many Chardonnay lovers, Rombauer is the bottle that makes a holiday dinner feel special, and Rombauer's winemakers call 2023 one of the best vintages in recent memory. Meet Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay 2023.
Tasting notes: Ripe peach, melon and bright citrus on the nose. Creamy vanilla and buttery notes on the palate, with bright acidity and a long finish.
About the wine: Carneros grapes from a cool, steady growing season, picked at night. Barrel fermented and aged 9 months in American and French oak (35% new), with regular lees stirring. 14.6% ABV, 750ml.
Holiday pairings: Rombauer suggests crab cakes and barley risotto. It is also lovely with roast turkey and all the sides.

The 2023 does not have the same balance as the 2022. All of my wine contacts agree with this evaluation. If you are able to find any left over 2022, I would buy it. I have no interest in the 2023 and now looking at alternatives.
